IDQ1127006 Warning Summary at issue time A Gale Warning has been issued for waters between Double Island Point and Point Danger for late this evening. A Strong Wind Warning has been issued for waters south of Double Island Point [including Moreton Bay] for late this afternoon, extending to waters south of Sandy Cape [including Hervey Bay] late this evening and remaining waters south of Gladstone during Saturday. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A complex low pressure system [1004 hPa] off the northern New South Wales coast is expected to deepen the remainder of today. The associated trough is expected to move northeast into far southern Queensland waters late this afternoon and evening. The trough is then expected to shift east over the Coral Sea during the weekend. Large south to southeasterly waves will affect far southern Queensland waters during the weekend resulting in rough surf conditions. A high [1032 hPa] over the Great Australian Bight will move slowly east during the forecast period, extending a strengthening ridge along the east Queensland coast.

A Strong Wind Warning has been issued for offshore waters south of Gladstone for Saturday. Friday until midnight Winds North of Gladstone Southwesterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching 15 to 20 knots at times. Winds tending south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots from this evening and reaching 20 to 25 knots at times from late tonight. South of Gladstone Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots from this evening. Seas 1.2 to 1.7 metres, increasing to 2.2 from the south during this evening. Swell Less than 1.5 metres. Isolated showers. Saturday Winds North of Gladstone South to southwesterly 20 to 25 knots, tending south to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon though still reaching 20 to 25 knots at times offshore. South of Gladstone South to southwesterly 20 to 25 knots at first, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times offshore. Winds tending south to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots during the afternoon and reaching 25 to 33 knots offshore. Seas 2.2 metres, reaching 3 metres offshore south of Gladstone. Swell South to southeasterly 1.5 to 2.5 metres over southern offshore waters. Isolated showers, scattered over southern offshore waters. Sunday Winds South to southeasterly 25 to 30 knots. Monday Winds Southeasterly 20 to 30 knots.

Seas 1.4 to 1.8 metres, reaching 2.5 metres over the northern bay this evening. Saturday Winds South to southwesterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots over the northern bay early morning. Winds tending southwest to southeasterly 20 to 30 knots during the afternoon and evening. Lighter south to southwesterly winds over the western bay early morning. Seas 1.8 metres to 2.5 metres. Isolated squally showers. Sunday Winds South to southeasterly 20 to 30 knots. Lighter south to southwesterly winds over the western bay early morning. Friday until midnight Winds West to southwesterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots from late afternoon. Winds tending south to southwesterly 25 to 30 knots during this evening and increasing to 30 to 40 knots from late tonight, particularly over offshore waters. Seas 1.7 to 2.2 metres, increasing to 3 metres from late afternoon and reaching 4 metres in open waters from late tonight. Swell South to southeasterly 1.5 metres, increasing to 2 to 2.5 metres from the south. Isolated showers, becoming scattered and squally from the south with possible isolated thunderstorms offshore. Saturday Winds South to southwesterly 30 to 40 knots. Winds tending southwest to southeasterly 25 to 33 knots during the afternoon though still reaching 33 to 40 knots offshore until late evening. Seas 3 to 4 metres. Swell South to southeasterly 2.5 to 3.5 metres, reaching 4 to 5 metres offshore. Scattered squally showers.
