Fish Report – 29th March 2012

Well, the rain we’ve had around the Bundaberg area lately has sent all the rivers fresh and pushed all the fish down to the river mouths and out along the beaches.

Some cracker whiting have been caught along the beaches, as well as a good number of swallowtail dart. Most have been caught on peeled prawns for bait.

The local river mouths have produced some great fish such as big grunter, big bream and some small jew. There is still the odd jack and barra about. Targeting them on live bait in the deeper holes is the go.

The fresh also got the crabs out and fired up, with the downstream areas of the creeks and rivers being the place to look for crabs.

Lake Monduran has been producing some small barra right up the back of the bays on small suspending lures such as Halco Hamma 85 and Jackall Squirrels.

Till next time,
