Fish Report - 11th October 2012

Well, the weeks keep slipping by and the fishing is still fantastic around the Bundaberg area.

The Coral Reef Fin Fish Closure starts on the 12th of October and runs until the 16th so offshore fishing is out, but the dams and estuaries are fishing well.

There is still a run of blue salmon and tarpon in the Burnett River. We have been having a ball using Blade lures.

The river mouth has plenty of flathead from around the rock walls. Queenfish, trevally and the odd school mackerel have all been caught around the mouth as well.

Up river bream, whiting and flathead seem to be everywhere. Some of the deeper holes have been producing the odd jack, cod, grunter and jew with live baits being the best.

Lake Monduran is producing a red-hot barra bite. The barra range from 50cm to 80cm and are great fun to catch. The backs of most of the bays seem to be the areas to target and the best lures lately have been Jackall Squirrels, Bombers and the new Axe lure.

Till next time,
