Well, over the past week or so, we’ve seen our fair share of rain and this has put a fair bit of fresh down most of the rivers and creeks, especially the Burnett River, and there is still a lot of fresh to come down the rivers.
Most of the fishing has slowed in the Burnett but there has still been some nice fish, such as bream, flathead and the odd jack, caught down around the river mouth,.
The Kolan River and Baffle Creek have been producing some good jack and grunter.
There is a good run of mud crabs about after the fresh, so dust of the pots and give them a go. There have been reports of a few prawns about also, but you do have to work hard for them.
Some of the dams are fishing well. The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) is producing some beaut bass on surface and on Blades.
Lake Monduran is starting to produce some numbers of barras, and most of them have been coming from the weed beds at the back of the bays. Most of the barra are small – 45-70cm - but are great fun to catch. Lures such as the Junior B52 and Strada Trakka lures catching most of the barra
Till next time,
