I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Tackle World Bundaberg.
Christmas is finally here, as is the warm weather with some scorching hot days.
This kind of weather gets the jacks chewing and all of the local the river systems around Bundaberg have been producing good numbers of good sized jacks. Most of the rocky areas have been producing the bigger jacks. Live poddy mullet and prawns have been best baits and the lure angles are having a ball catching the big jacks on Jackall Tranzams or Prawnstar lures.
There are heaps of flathead about, around the sand flats and drop-offs with Hot Pine soft plastics being a favoured method.
The local beaches have been producing some big dart and whiting on worms or peeled prawns.
The reef fishing was good on the few days of calm weather that we had, with a lot of sweetlip, parrot and hussar being caught.
We are having a run of mackerel at the moment - both school and spanish mackerel have been caught mainly by spinning high speed metal jigs.
The Isis Impoundment (lake Gregory) is producing a red hot bass bite again mainly by jigging soft plastics and blades over schooled fish.
The barra in Lake Monduran also love this hot weather and are being caught in reasonable numbers on Jackall Squirrels and Bomber lures.
Till next time,
Tim Mulhall
