Fish Report - 2nd February 2012

The fishing around the Bundaberg area has slowed down a bit due to the recent rains which have caused most of our rivers to flood and they’re all running fresh.

Most of the upstream areas are near unfishable due to the catfish population, and most of the fishable areas are down towards the river mouths. A few nice fish have been pushed down including some big barra, threadfin salmon, jacks and big fingermark.

When the weather permits offshore fishing hasn’t been too bad, with most reef species being caught as well as some big cobia and spanish mackeral.

The local dams have also had a top-up from the rain. Lake Monduran has been hard to fish as it’s overflowing at the moment.

The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) has been sitting at a steady level and is producing some beaut bass fishing, especially on blades.

Till next time,
