Fishing Report – 18th November 2021

BUNDABERG OFFSHORE
With the big full moon morning tides this weekend I would definitely be fishing the shallows in the mornings for coral trout and red throat emperors. Using pilchards as bait or jigging 5” soft plastics off the bottom is an effective way to get a good feed. Fingers crossed the weather will play the game.  As always, check the weather report before heading out.

BUNDABERG INSHORE
The inshore reefs has copped quite a bit of dirty water from the recent rain we’ve had over the past week. It seems to have stirred up some late season snapper and plenty of very good sized grunter. If you’re thinking about chasing a feed of mackerel, I’d be heading down more towards Elliott Heads way to find the clearer water. Vertically fast retrieving Flasha Spoons and floating pilchards out the back is a fun and very effective way to catch them.

THE BURNETT RIVER
The Burnett has been producing some very good sized grunter lately. Hopping soft vibes off the bottom has been getting plenty of the bites. If you’re more into bait fishing using prawns and sprat will surely get you into some action. Also, with the fresh in the river at the moment the crabs surely have started to get on the move so be sure to drop some crab pots in.

THE KOLAN RIVER AND BAFFLE CREEK
These two systems have been the standout systems for mangrove jack over the past couple of weeks. Twitching hardbody lures over shallow rock bars and out of mangroves has been getting most of the bites.  Setting live poddy mullet out has been very effective as well. There’s also been some good captures of whiting and flathead towards the mouth of these systems. Fishing the incoming tide with yabbies has been the go to for getting a feed of whiting and slow rolling 3” Zman Minnowz over sandbars has been doing the trick for the flathead.

LAKE MONDURAN
The barramundi fishing at Lake Monduran is red hot at the moment. There’s been plenty of barra caught over the magic metre over the past week. With the full moon and northerly winds forecast this weekend it should be a ripper of a weekend up there. Remember to focus on fishing the windblown bays and points. Jackall Super Squirrels and large paddle tail soft plastics has been getting the bites!
