Finally we have seen a break in the weather around Bundy, and this saw a chance for most big boat owners to head offshore.
Not only was it perfect weather and the fish were on the chew, most of the outer reefs and islands produced great catches of coral trout, red emperor, cod, redthroat sweetlip, parrot and plenty of big hussar.
Some of the gutters in a bit closer also produced well, with trout and sweetlip being popular catches. Even the smaller reefs such as the Two Mile and Ryan’s produced some excellent school and spanish mackerel and even some cobia.
We also have a large run of tuna and spottie mackerel along the coast, so drag out the spin gear and get amongst them.
The local river systems are still fishing red hot. Whiting, bream, flathead and some big grunter, cod, jack and threadfin salmon have been caught on lures such as soft plastics, Blades and Tranzams.
The bass are on the chew out at the Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory). Blades and Jackalls are the best lures at the moment,
Lake Monduran is still producing a run of barra, especially during this hot weather. The northern arm of B Section has produced some great barra sessions. Tranzams and B52 lures have been favourites.
Till next time,
