on orders over $125All in all it hasn’t been a bad week weather-wise around Bundaberg, and the weekend’s forecast is looking good to get out and wet a line.
Sunday should be okay for anyone thinking of fishing the close inshore reefs along our coastline. Please check your local forecast before you head out though, as things can change.
A few really nice Spanish mackerel and snapper have showed up and are responding to live baits and 5” and 7” soft plastics.
Most of the action in the Burnett River last week has been from anglers chasing the prawns. Whilst it has slowed a little, most people who are trying are at least catching a good feed.
The Burnett is still fishing very well. We’ve recently heard good reports of some monster flathead, bream, blue salmon and the odd mangrove jack and fingermark, all caught between Strathdees and Burnett Heads. Casting larger soft plastics has been the key to hooking a better class of fish.
The Kolan River is in recovery mode after a big Easter. Good numbers of prawns are in the river, as well as some nice flatties around the Black Bank towards the mouth. There have also been quite a few mangrove jack active around the many rock bars in the Kolan.
By the looks, the boys fishing with Guidelines Barra Charters at Lake Monduran have had a good week, hooking a heap of barra between 80cm and 100cm, and the good old Jackall Squirrel and 6” Zman Swimmers have been doing the damage.
Just finally, round Two of the Australian Bass Electric Tournament (ABT) will be held on Sunday, 17th April at Lake Gregory, Voss Road, Bundaberg. Anglers will have a six-hour session from 7.00am to 1.00pm, followed by a live weigh-in with their two heaviest bass. Great prizes will be presented to the top five places.
