on orders over $125It was nice to see most areas in the Bundaberg region receive some nice rainfall last weekend. It was certainly handy and I’m sure everyone enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof.
There have not been too many report during the past week, although the Burnett is still fishing well. Anglers putting in the hours are still seeing a few blue salmon, large bream and some quality flathead being boated, both on live baits and soft plastics.
A few mud crabs have also been caught recently with the better quality crabs coming from the deeper sections of the Burnett.
Both Baffle Creek and the Kolan River are still holding good numbers of fish. I’ve heard of some nice mulloway up to 95cm being caught around the mouth of both systems lately. The fish are a welcome by-catch of fishermen chasing a feed of flathead. Further upstream bream, flathead and the occasional monster whiting have been caught around the many sandbars.
The few boats that shot out to fish the close reefs offshore when the weather allowed reported some quality grunter and a few snapper feeding on the large schools of squid that have shown up in the past month.
The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) is a great option to fish when the weather is ordinary. This magic little dam is really firing at the moment. Casting lightly weighted blades and soft plastics around the edges has been doing the damage. Most bass caught were in the mid 30cms, but there is always a chance of hooking a cracker. Tackle World team member, Shane Anderson took his young bloke out to the impoundment this week, and Ashton managed to catch a 43cm bass using and Instinct blade. Out-fished his old man!
