on orders over $125The weather around the Bundaberg area has been a bit up and down this week. On the good days, those that have headed offshore have scored well with red emperor, cod, trout, sweetlip and the usual mixed reefies. The inshore grounds have been producing some great fishing with snapper, grunter and sweetlip all being caught.
Those anglers throwing soft plastics have also been catching good numbers of snapper. The best method has been rigging 5-7inch soft plastics on lightly weighted jig heads fished slowly to the bottom. Fine light (12-15lb) braided lines are also a big advantage.
The river mouths have produced some good tailor fishing from both the shore and from a boat. Casting small poppers and chrome Flasha–style lures, and trolling some 4-5 inch diving Minnows around the rocky outcrops and channel markers has shown the best results.
In the local rivers the fish are still on the chew, with some good whiting still being caught in the upper reaches of the Burnett River. Some big bream and grunter are also mixed in with them.
Further down stream along the rocks has seen some bigger bream, with the lure throwers catching them on small bladed lures slow rolled along the bottom.
The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) has been producing some hot surface lure fishing in the late afternoons. During the day rolling Spinnerbaits around the weed edges has also produced some great results.
The barra in Lake Monduran have slowed a little with the cooler weather, but the barra that have been caught have come from the shallows in the back of the bays.
