on orders over $125Well, this week has graced the Bundaberg area with some kind weather as well as a good bit of rain earlier in the week.
With the good weather during this week, those who had the time to go, headed offshore. With the warmer weather the fishing out there has improved with red emperor being a hot favourite. Big reds to 15kg have been caught. Try using big baits on 8/0 or 9.0 hooks and a 10 ball sinker fished hard on the bottom and hang on!
Other reef species have also been caught. Sweetlip, coral trout, cod, tusk fish, snapper and some big pelagics such as Spanish mackerel and big cobia or black king have been caught by floating out a big baits such as Yakkas or big gar.
The local inshore grounds have still been producing some good snapper fishing and the lure anglers have been having a ball catching snapper on plastics and small Vibe or bladed lures fished along the bottom.
The river mouths are still producing some good fishing with catches of tailor, mackerel, trevally and queenfish all being reported.
Back up the Burnett River the rain earlier in the week has stirred things up. Some good sized grunter have made their way into the river. Please be aware of the new size and bag limits on grunter. Blue salmon, bream and good numbers of flathead have also been landed. The new and full moons have produced some good whiting fishing with yabbies and worms being the best baits.
The bass in the Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) have fired up with a hot early morning surface bite on poppers and surface walkers. As the day warms up and the bass move deeper, Blades and Spinnerbaits are the go.
The barra at Lake Monduran are well and truly on the chew. Fishing the flats in the back of the bays with soft plastics and shallow diving hard body lures is the best way to produce a strike. Five to nine fish per day have now been common. That’s hot barra fishing!
