on orders over $125Well, it’s been another great week for fishing around the Bundaberg area, with plenty of quality fish being caught.
The river mouths of the Elliott and the Burnett have been producing a run of schoolie mackerel. They are in reasonable numbers, but you do have to measure a few, as some are just bordering on legal size. Most of these mackerel have been caught by trolling spoon lures rigged on a diving paravane to get the lures down deeper. If trolling isn’t your thing, floating out live baits or pillies rigged on gang hooks has been working well.
Most of the rivers have been producing plenty of three-tooth jew, flathead and grunter, with most being caught on fresh yabbies or prawns, and some have even been caught on soft plastics.
With this warm weather we have had the mangrove jacks on the chew. Most of the jacks have come out of the deeper holes and off the rock bars. Soft vibes and Z-Man soft plastics have been doing the damage on the jacks.
While targeting jacks, there is a possibility of catching a barra, so please be aware that there is now a current barramundi closure in all rivers. This closure runs from midday on the 1st of November until midday on the 1st of February and all barra must be returned immediately, unharmed back to the water. There is a small amount of prawns about. They only pop-up on certain stages of the tide but are well worth the effort when you do find them.
Lake Gregory is producing plenty of bass and the odd saratoga with most of these fish being caught on Bassman Spinner Baits.
