Earlier in the week around Bundaberg, we saw some fantastic weather for the offshore fisherman. Most reports showed some great catches and most anglers came home with a fair feed of fish.
Most of the inshore areas out to the 15-Mile produced some big grass sweetlip, snapper, parrot and the odd big trout.
Further offshore saw some big red emperor, trout, cod, snapper and some monster pearl perch. Again, squid, pillys and mullet fillets were best. Some big mackerel and cobia have also been caught.
The mouths of the local rivers are producing some awesome fishing. Big barra, jew and salmon have been caught, with most of them being taken on lures.
There has also been some large numbers of flathead caught around the river mouths with soft plastics being the preferred method.
Don’t forget, the annual Monduran Family Fishing Classic is coming up fast, being only two weeks away. It’s on the weekend of the 8th and 9th of October and as in previous years, there are heaps of lucky draws as well as a boat, motor and trailer package worth $8,500 to be won. It’s a great family weekend with plenty of kid’s prizes as well. More information is available on the Monduran Anglers and Stocking Association website at http://masa-fishstocking.org.au/ where you can download a copy of the rules and program, along with registration form, or you can pick one up and pay your registration fee at Tackle World Bundaberg or at the event.
Till next time,
