on orders over $125Well, around the Bundaberg area, another week of wild weather has passed us by and the strong winds have kept us from heading offshore. However, the local rivers and creeks keep turning it on, with some red-hot fishing sessions.
There has been some fantastic catches. There are some big blue salmon about, being caught on livies or Jackall Tranzams. There are also some big grunter around, as well as some good-sized flathead. Soft plastics seem to be the preferred method to catch a feed.
Most of the rock bars and rock walls are still holding some big numbers of monster bream. Mullet fillets and chook gut have been the best for bait, but soft plastics seem to be out-fising them all, with some monster bream to 43cm being caught. Berkley Gulps and Atomic Plazos have been the tempting these fish, with red and pink colours being favoured.
Some of the river mouths are producing some good catches of tailor. Spinning or trolling has been the best way to catch a fresh feed of tailor. Lures such as Flasha lures and small Halco spoons are hot favourites.
Surprisingly there are still a good number of mud crabs about for this time of year. So, dust off your pots and have a go.
The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) is still producing some great bass fishing sessions. The bass seem to be schooled up in the middle of the dam, so jigging Blades and Jackall TN60’s through the schools seems to be the go.
