on orders over $125There was a small window of opportunity to head offshore from Bundaberg this week, and a few anglers did manage to catch a few fish, including trout, sweetlip and hussar. Some spanish mackerel were also caught, on big live baits and lures.
The coast has seen a run of schoolies. Trolling spoons seems to be the go.
The local rivers and creeks are still fishing well, with a lot of flathead being caught along the sand bars and drop-offs. The new Atomic Prong seems to be a favoured plastic for the flatties at the moment.
There are plenty of grunter about, but please watch the sizes as both species of grunter are being caught. The minimum size of the small-spotted grunter is 30cm and for the barred grunter the minimum is 40cm.
Salmon, jack, cod and jew are all being caught along the rock walls and in the deeper holes.
The coastal beaches are producing some red hot fishing action with whiting, dart and mulloway jew all being caught, with the run-out tide into the evening being the best.
Lake Monduran is really fishing well at the moment with plenty of small barra being caught. The backs of the wind-swept bays are the key as the barra sit in the warmer water being pushed into the bay by the winds. Jackall Squirrels and Maria lures are the hot favourites for the barra.
