on orders over $125The past week has seen some very ordinary weather for offshore fishing around the Bundaberg area. The strong northerlies are never any good anyway, so it has been a great week to do maintenance on your big rig.
Outside of that, the estuary fishing is fantastic with all systems firing. Baffle Creek and the Kolan River have been producing a run of flathead on soft plastics and baits such as whitebait or sprats. Please be aware of the maximum size on flathead as a good number of flattys caught have been oversized. There has been a good number of jacks and grunter in these systems too.
The Burnett River has been fishing exceptionally well for salmon, whiting, bream and the odd barra. Be aware that the closed season for barra is coming up – from midday on 1st November to midday on 1st February.
The mouth of the Burnett has been producing some school mackerel on the tops of the tides in the cleaner water.
The Elliott River is also fishing well for whiting and flathead with the run-in tides being best, just as the tide pushes up over the sand banks. The upper reaches of the Elliott has produced a few jacks and an odd barra.
Lake Monduran has been producing a hot barra bite during the hot northerlies with most barra being taken from the back of wind-blown bays. LuckyCraft Pointers in 100mm and 78mm have been by far the best lures.
