on orders over $125Well we have had a reasonable run of good weather for a change and this has allowed a lot of boats offshore. With the lighter winds being in the afternoon, most boats stayed out well into the night with most anglers catching their fair share.
Red emperor, trout, sweetlip, red jew and some big snapper were all caught using large flesh baits with some big fish among them. The inshore grounds such as the artificial, 2 mile and Ryans has been producing some great catches of snapper, red jew and some large grunter. Again the afternoon tides have been the best times to have a go with the best results by using fish baits slowly fished to the bottom with small weights and 4/0 or 5/0 hooks.
The river mouths are holding large amounts of bait which is bringing in the predators. School mackerel, tuna, tailor and trevally have all been caught around these bait schools by casting chromes such as Flasha Lures and Arma Metalik jigs.
The rivers are still fishing really well with the rocky areas producing some big bream, cod and grunter. There are still good numbers of flathead and whiting around the sand flats with whiting about in good numbers and well worth targeting.
There is a mixture of sand, winter and northern whiting about and the best bet is to drift the flats using prawns, yabbies or worms as bait.
Mangrove Jack, cod and small jew have been caught further up-river with live baits being the go.
The bass have gone a bit quiet, so if you want to catch these you will need to fish hard and light in the deep areas of the dam.
Barra are slowly moving about in the shallow warm bays. To entice the big one, you will need to slowly work big shallow diving lures in these areas.
