on orders over $125With the unpredictable weather around the Bundaberg area over the past few weeks, it may have been a good time for the offshore anglers to stay home and do a bit of maintenance on the boat and trailer.
However, the creeks and rivers have still been fishing really well with salmon, and both blue and king salmon have been mentioned by those managing to wet a line. The king salmon have been in the upper reaches of the Burnett River with the blue salmon being mainly in the mid-section. Most of the king salmon have been caught on live baits such as prawns, poddy mullet and spratt, and the blue salmon being caught on yabbies and prawns.
The preferred rig to land these fish has been a three or four ball sinker, depending on the run, then about a 40cm length of mono trace to a swivel, with a 4/0 hook.
Bream have been around in big numbers and good quality. The rocky areas seem to be where they are hanging around. Some large sand whiting have been caught around the sand flats and beaches. The sand flats are producing some great catches of flathead and most have been caught on soft plastics.
The local rivers have had a small run of prawns and crabs so it could be worth taking some crabs pots and a cast net.
The barra up at Lake Monduran have been hard to catch due to the cooler weather, and those that have been caught have been taken on soft plastics and have been lurking around the backs of the shallow bays where the water temperature is a little warmer.
The bass at Lake Gregory have come on the chew with some early morning popper sessions producing some big bass.
