on orders over $125The fishing in the Bundaberg area is well and truly on the improve as the local rivers and creeks stop flowing from the recent floods, and the salt water pushes back upstream, taking the fish along with it.
The bream seem to be about in big numbers, mainly along the rock walls, with small dark-coloured soft plastics and blades doing the damage.
A few flathead have also been caught by trolling small diving hard-bodied lures around the sand flats.
Some of the deeper holes up river have produced some big jacks and cod with live baits being the most popular method to land a big one.
When the weather has allowed the boats to get out, the offshore fishing has also been great and there have been reports of some excellent catches of coral trout, red emperor, sweetlip and tusk fish being taken.
The spanish mackerel are on the move with most of the reef areas holding good numbers. These have been caught by trolling diving lures such as the Halco 190 Laser Pro’s, or by trolling big baits such as gar, slimey mackerel and bonito.
The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) has still been producing a great bass bite. The late afternoon surface bite has been awesome, especially just on dark. During the day the weed edges hold bigger bass so Spinnerbaits or Blades slow-rolled back to the boat have been producing the goods.
Lake Monduran has still been a bit slow with only one reported catch of a barra being landed this week, and this was taken by trolling the main basin in 40ft of water. The tackle that did the trick was a Classic lure in fluoro yellow and green colours.
