on orders over $125The fishing in the Bundaberg area is running red hot in both the Burnett River and offshore.
The offshore areas have been producing some big reds, trout and sweetlip. Some big snapper will start to come in as water temperatures cool down.
The inshore areas such as the Cochrane Artificial Reef have been producing some squire/snapper to 50cm as well as some big grunter.
Spanish mackerel are on the move with most anglers catching their bag of spanish by trolling big lures such as Halco Laser Pros and Strada lures. Trolling big baits has been best with wolf herring being the pick of the baits.
The Burnett River has been producing some fantastic fishing, as some schools of jew/mulloway have moved into the river. There is also some big grunter about as well as bream, whiting and flathead. The most talked-about species at the moment have been the winter whiting that are moving along the coast, and most have been caught on yabbies, worms and Gulp soft plastic worms. Whiting have also shown up in the Elliot River.
The other species that have been talked about are the blue salmon and tailor. Some schools of these have made their way up the Burnett. The salmon and tailor have been caught by using live baits with sprat and prawns being the best, rigged up by using 15-20lb main line, a size 4 ball sinker running to a swivel, a length of 40lb mono trace line and a 3/0 hook. Put your line on, throw it in the water and hang on!
