This week in the Bundaberg area, the rivers are fishing really well with some excellent catches of bream, whiting and flathead.
There is also a big number of blue salmon, and the odd tailor moving up and down the Burnett River. Live prawns and sprat seem to be the favoured bait for these species.
There has also been a few king salmon and mangrove jack reported as well, again with live baits being the best..
The river mouth has just started to produce some schoolie mackeral, so this will be a good option if you have a smaller boat, especially over the next few days, as the winds will be at their lightest. Pilchards, gar and small diving chrome lures have been the best results for the mackeral.
There are still a few mud crabs about and also a scattering of prawns, so drag out the pots and cast net and have a go.
Till next time,
Tim Mulhall.
