The Baffle Creek Family Fishing Festival is a signature community event that brings families, recreational anglers and visitors together for a week-long celebration of fishing, fun and local spirit. Set around the pristine Baffle Creek system, and extending offshore for those chasing reef species, the festival offers a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere for anglers of all ages and experience levels.
The competition promotes a catch, snap and release approach to encourage sustainable fishing, though participants are welcome to keep any legal fish if they choose. With categories spanning popular estuary species as well as offshore favourites, everyone has the chance to get involved, whether you’re fishing the mangrove edges, drifting the sand flats or heading offshore.
A highlight of the week is the Family Fun Day held on the Saturday, featuring an impressive range of activities including the famous mullet throwing competition, jumping castle, face painting, market stalls and more. Combined with lucky draws & category prizes, the festival delivers something for everyone, from keen anglers to families just looking for a great day out.
More than just a competition, the Baffle Creek Family Fishing Festival celebrates community, outdoor adventure and the stunning natural environment that makes Baffle Creek one of Queensland’s most unique fishing destinations.
