Whilst the FX doesn't carry a big price tag, it certainly delivers the Shimano quality and reliability that the brand is known for worldwide, with features that enhance the fishing experience for anglers of all skill levels. The graphite frame, sideplate, and rotor keep weight down whilst maintaining durability, and the reel features an XT-7 body that provides excellent strength and rigidity to protect internal components. Shimano's famous AR-C long-casting spool design, made from aluminium rather than cheap plastic, is a brilliant inclusion that promotes excellent casting length and accuracy whilst helping to avoid wind knots. With two ball bearings plus a roller bearing working alongside Shimano's precision gearing, the FX offers smoothness and reliability for many years of service. The Varispeed oscillation provides consistent spool speed for even line lay, whilst Super Stopper II anti-reverse minimises back-play for instant hook sets. The Power Roller II is an oversized line roller enhanced with a tapered support area that helps line get onto the roller quicker whilst reducing twist. Featuring G Free Body technology that shifts the centre of gravity closer to the rod to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort, the FX is suitable for freshwater and saltwater fishing from lakes and rivers to light beach applications.
