Description
Description
The Garmin GPS 73 is a rugged handheld marine GPS navigator designed for boats, sailboats, and small watercraft without a chartplotter or as a reliable emergency backup. Featuring a 2.6-inch high-contrast monochrome display (128 x 160 pixels) with backlit buttons, this floating unit operates for over 18 hours on two AA batteries. The high-sensitivity GPS receiver quickly acquires satellite signals and marks up to 1,000 waypoints and 100 tracks for easy navigation. NMEA 0183 compatibility enables data transfer via USB to computers for route planning with Garmin HomePort software or connection to compatible marine electronics. Built-in features include man overboard (MOB) function, marine alarms, sunrise/sunset times, hunting and fishing calendar, and comprehensive marine data. IPX7 waterproof rating withstands submersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes, whilst the unit floats if dropped overboard. SailAssist features provide virtual starting line, heading line, countdown timers, tack assist, and speed history graph, making this versatile navigator ideal for power boating, sailing, and fishing applications across Australian waters.
