The Gary Howard K'gari Special Low Mount Surf Rod is a hand-built Australian surf rod by renowned Queensland rod maker Gary Howard, purpose-designed for the beaches, headlands, and estuary mouths of the Fraser Coast and beyond. Built on a fibreglass blank with a nice and tippy action paired with plenty of power in the butt, this rod loads up smoothly for casting distance with bait rigs whilst delivering the soft tip needed to detect subtle bites and keep tension on light-biting fish without ripping the hook.
The rod features quality Fuji reel seat and Fuji CCMNOG guides, all fully under and overbound in the traditional Australian custom rod style, delivering a finish that holds up to years of saltwater abuse. The Low Mount configuration positions the reel seat low on the rod butt, making it purpose-built for sidecast and Alvey reels where casting comfort and natural rod balance depend on a low reel position.
