Strolling Lures

Strolling is the latest craze in lure fishing, particularly in the impoundment scene for barramundi and bass, and has quickly proven itself as a game-changing technique in our local area. Strolling involves fishing jerk tail and similar soft plastic profiles on lighter gear and lightly weighted jig heads, imparting a controlled side-to-side glide and wobble while keeping the lure in the strike zone for extended periods. This is achieved by lifting and dropping the rod tip while slowly winding, causing the lure to dance and wobble naturally. When paired with forward-facing sonar such as LiveScope, strolling becomes incredibly effective in deeper water, allowing anglers to target individual fish and hold the lure right in front of a fish’s face while precisely controlling action and timing. Strolling lures come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, colours and materials, with ultra-soft materials being a key factor in their success, enabling even subtle movements to trigger aggressive strikes from pressured fish. Popular choices include the Raid Fish Roller, Rapala Crush City Freeloader and the Yamamoto Hinge Minnow.
