Description

The Gary Howard Surf Classic Low Mount Surf Rod is a custom-designed Australian surf rod built by renowned rod builder Gary Howard, featuring a traditional slow-action fibreglass blank tuned specifically for bait fishing the estuaries, beaches, and rock platforms. The Low Mount configuration positions the reel seat low on the rod butt, making it purpose-built for sidecast and Alvey reels where casting comfort and natural rod balance depend on a low reel position. The slow action loads up smoothly during the cast for distance with bait rigs and delivers the soft tip needed to keep tension on light biting fish without ripping the hook out.

All rods in the Surf Classic range are fitted with Fuji guides bound with high-gloss two-pack epoxy for a clean, durable finish that holds up to years of saltwater abuse. Gary Howard's passion for estuary and light-surf fishing comes through in the quality of the actions and finishes, with each rod purpose-built to suit popular Australian species including bream, blackfish, flathead, whiting, and tailor across estuary mouths, beach gutters, and rock ledges. Whether throwing pillies for tailor along the beach, soaking baits for whiting in the gutters, or working blackfish on the rocks, the Surf Classic delivers the proven Aussie surf rod feel that's earned Gary Howard rods their devoted following.
