The offshore fishing around Bundaberg has been blown out by strong winds, but there is still a run of school mackerel around the river mouths. Trolling spoons and small diving Minnows is the way to go.
Well, the weeks just keep on zipping by and the fishing around the Bundaberg area has been great.
The forecast for the Bundaberg area for this weekend is predicted to be 15-20 knot winds, so offshore fishing will be out.
Offshore fishing has been limited due to weather. Some of the inshore areas have produced some quality fish when weather permits. Snapper and large grunter have been the main catches. The rivers are still producing some fantastic fishing with plenty of jew around the mouths.
Finally some much need rain has hit our area giving us a good soaking. Most of the area received around 50mm putting some localized run off into the rivers and creeks. This should get the mud crabs moving.
This week around the Bundaberg area we have some great weather with a lot of boats heading offshore. Most were well rewarded with some great catches of big red emperor, coral trout and sweetlip all being caught.
Well, first things first for the Bundaberg fish report this week – the barramundi closure is now in place. This started at midday on 1st November and means that you cannot target or take a barramundi from any creek, river or estuary. The only exception is stocked dams such as Lake Monduran.
Around the Bundaberg area last weekend there was a small opportunity to head offshore. With the forecast, it looked like it would only be good enough weather for the bigger boats, but those who braved the conditions managed to score a good feed of fish.
We have certainly felt summer coming over this past week around the Bundaberg area, with some very hot days and pumping northerly winds to keep things dry. However, the fishing in our area has still been red hot with all systems firing.
