The fishing has been a bit quiet offshore around Bundaberg, due to lousy weather conditions, so most of the big boats have been tucked away in their sheds.
However, the rivers and creeks have been fishing really well.
A few storms in the Bundaberg area early in the week put a bit of a local run-off into the rivers and creeks, but it hasn’t upset the fishing with most systems fishing well.
Well once again we’ve seen a week of near perfect weather that gave a lot of boats the opportunity to head offshore. The smaller tides that we have had during the week have made fishing conditions to almost as good as it gets; and there were some fantastic fish caught.
Well the weeks just keep passing us by, but the fishing has still been great with most of the rivers producing some red hot fishing sessions. There still has been a good number of big bream about. The lure guys are having a ball catching the big bream on blades and soft plastics.
With spring now upon us we should start to get some warmer days around the Bundaberg area, but keep an eye on the weather this weekend as the winds may increase on Saturday and Sunday.
Well, the weather around the Bundaberg region has been almost perfect for the past week or so. The offshore guys have been able to get out amongst a few and some top reefies have been caught.
From all weather predictions, this weekend is the time to head well offshore and find some reef fish and spanish mackerel. Preparation is the key to any trip, so make sure you are well stocked with all the bait and tackle you’ll need.
Even though the recent rains sent some more fresh down the local creeks and rivers, the fishing has still been great.
Offshore fishing has been limited to one day here and two days there in between the blows, but on those days you have been able to get out the fishing has been good.
Catching bream and bass on plastics seem to be the rage at this time of year, but when the temperature drops to our coldest temperatures, these species get a bit lethargic and tend to only nip or bite at the tail soft our plastics – this is called short striking.
Well, around the Bundaberg area, another week of wild weather has passed us by and the strong winds have kept us from heading offshore. However, the local rivers and creeks keep turning it on, with some red-hot fishing sessions.
