Fish Report - 18th April 2013
Wow, what a week of great weather we have had in the Bundaberg area! It has been some of the best/calmest we have seen, and a lot of big boats took advantage of the opportunity.

Since the recent flood here in Bundaberg, the fishing has been a bit slow in some of our estuary systems. In our region, the Burnett, Kolan and Elliott Rivers as well as Baffle Creek were all affected in some way.
Finally the anglers in the Bundaberg area had a chance to use the boats and head offshore and chase some pelagics and reef fish.
What incredible weather we’ve had over the past month or so! But, it’s not all doom and gloom – there are fish to be had in the estuary systems and local knowledge sure pays off.
The fishing in the Bundaberg area has been very limited of late due to the unpredictable weather patterns at the moment. This means that offshore fishing has been put on hold due to wind.
Last weekend saw a break in the weather and a lot of boats headed offshore. With perfect tides most were well rewarded with the islands producing reds, trout and big redthroat sweetlip.
The fishing around the Bundaberg area is still red-hot with most northern species all being caught, and I can say I’ve never seen or had the fishing this good!
There was a small window of opportunity to head offshore from Bundaberg this week, and a few anglers did manage to catch a few fish, including trout, sweetlip and hussar. Some spanish mackerel were also caught, on big live baits and lures.
Happy New Year to all from the team at Tackle World Bundaberg. It sure has been a windy start to the new year, so there has been no offshore fishing done so far.
The rivers, creeks and dams, however, are fishing well.
First of all, I’d like to say that I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and I wish you a safe and happy New Year.
I hope you now have plenty of new toys to play with because the fishing around the Bundaberg area is red hot in both the estuaries and offshore.
